Naboth was stoned to death in the street. His inheritance of the vineyard was stolen from him by the covetousness of King Ahab and the manipulations and deception of Queen Jezebel.

The prophet Elijah warned that a reckoning would happen.

When Queen Jezebel was pushed from the palace balcony to her death years later, the same dogs that ate up Naboth’s remains in the street……those dogs ate up Jezebel.

For every action, there is a reaction. For every time the pendulum swings to the left, it equally must swing for the right.

Naboth was King Ahab’s neighbor. He had a beautiful vineyard. He worked hard at it. He was diligent and spent years upon years growing his vineyard much in the same way that others accumulate their wealth and family empires.

Ahab wanted the inherited vineyard of Naboth.

So, he approached Naboth but Naboth refused to sell at any price for the value of the vineyard to him was in his blood, sweat, and tears from years of toil. It probably also represented family memories.

King Ahab grew angry and then petulant and refused to eat back at the palace.

Before long, crafty Queen Jezebel had devised a plot that she slowly whispered into the ear of King Ahab and he eventually agreed for he desired the vineyard to be his.

Jezebel concocted a fake trial against Naboth. She sent false accusers to the trial and they made statements that were untrue. She paid off the judge. The whole trial was a farce, a public ploy to defame and rob and steal from a man that was innocent.

Naboth was found guilty and then stoned to death. His body was left in the street for the dogs to eat.

The vineyard now belonged to Ahab.

But the wheels of fate can sometimes reverse course upon an intentionally unkind act…..and it was not long before Jezebel fell into the same pit she had dug for her enemy.

I guess they call that Poetic Justice.
